MASCOT10  is the eight  edition of a series of   IMACS/ISGG workshops  devoted (as the MASCOT acronym implies)  to the modeling and  numerical  simulation of  systems, mostly physical,  with   an emphasis of tools.  Systems under consideration are to a large extent those described with  partial differential equations  in   such  fields (not exclusively) as  fluid dynamics,  heat transfer, engineering, environmental and biological systems.  These are applications that   are among the most demanding in  computer  power,  and the tools that are between  the mathematical models that describe those systems  and their computer simulation  belong to  several  aspects of applied mathematics. They include such things as grid generation,  the  replacement of partial derivatives with numerical  approximations,  the analysis of errors that are inherent to that process,  the solution of the  resulting (large) discrete systems of equations,  the  availability and use of  specialized algorithms that  have been developed through the years and that are available today.   The  intent of the MASCOT workshops is also, importantly,  to bring together   experts and  newcomers to  the field,  to include an educational content  in what is being accomplished.

Representative topics:

- Numerical Grid Generation

- Interpolation and Approximation for Applications
- Numerical Methods and Scientific Computing Tools
- Modeling and Visualization

- Innovative education and dissemination

Objective of the meeting is also to promote cooperation and project proposals in the national and international framework programmes.

Participation of women scientists  is welcome.
