Abstract

Wound healing involves overlapping phases of inflammation, proliferation, and remodeling each of which require coordinated interactions between wound cells, and between different organs and the wound, that evolve over each phase of healing. However, the complex interactions between these cells that result in a healed wound are poorly understood.  Likewise, although the function of many cells and organs are known to be impaired in diabetes, how such dysregulation impacts the network of interactions required for effective healing remains to be elucidated. In this talk, I will present findings from our laboratory on communication pathways that are important for healing and that represent targets for improving tissue repair.
